AMP Power Protection reflect on successful first year

2020 proved to be a successful first year of trading for AMP Power Protection:

At the beginning of 2020, AMP Power Protection launched as we announced the acquisition of the former Harland Simon UPS – taking over the full intellectual property rights to the Harland ProtectUPS® brand – and access to designs & documentation of all equipment supplied by Harland Simon UPS since 1995. Over 25 years of Power Protection.

Over the course of 2020 we established AMP Power Protection as a trusted supplier of Rugged Protected Power Protection Products and Uninterruptible Power Supplies “UPS.”

By retaining key staff from Harland Simon UPS – we were able to quickly launch the brand and win contracts with key suppliers, with contracts in our first year totalling over £2.0 million. This included the supply of 48 watertight UPS systems for BAE Type 26 project, partnership with Siemens to provide Transport UPS for traffic interchanges across the UK and abroad, and supply of multiple power protection products to clients such as Leonardo, Chess Dynamics, GE and L3.

In 2020 we also:

• Became certified partners with Eaton and Schneider Electric
• Achieved ISO 9001-2015 Quality Assurance with Lloyds Register
• Gained our Cyber Essentials certificate.

In November we announced an expansion into new premises at the iCentre in Newport Pagnell, after outgrowing our previous unit at the business park.

Their new combined larger office and workshop is double the area of the previous space.

The need for more space was necessary, after winning major contracts from multiple industries – including Defence, Marine, Transport and Power – to provide our Rugged UPS and Custom UPS solutions.

AMP Power Protection are part of the AMP Group, alongside supply chain specialists AMP Procurement. Together, the AMP Group are now a preferred Power & Procurement Partner for the Type 26 Frigate project for the UK Ministry of Defence. AMP Power Protection have also supplied Rugged UPS solutions across the Royal Navy fleet, such as the QE Aircraft Carrier and Type 45 Destroyer.

Together as a Group, AMP are looking forward to further success in 2021.
